Sustainable and circular design.
Self-evident, isn't it
Stolk Design takes responsibility for creating sustainable buildings. I strive for high quality and enduring value in the future. Together with the client, we explore the possibilities of sustainable, passive, and energy-efficient construction, achieving maximum living comfort and a reduction in energy consumption.
A sustainable building starts with a thoughtful design, taking into account the current requirements of the Building Decree. The Energy Performance Coefficient (EPC) is an index that indicates the energy efficiency of new construction. The required EPC is currently set at 0.4. A house with an EPC of 0.4 uses only 40% of the energy that a house would have used twenty years ago. In 2020, only energy-neutral construction, which means EPC < 0.2, is allowed.
A role as an
integrator
Stolk Design envisions taking on an integrative role within every project. As an integrator, you act as the linchpin, bringing various disciplines together and ensuring a shared understanding. At all times, you maintain control and overview of the process. You take responsibility for the essential requirements of the end product and its quality.
This translates into a wide range of services. Curious about what we can do for you?
Our approach
All steps in the design process require different disciplines and expertise. Unfortunately, at this moment, I don’t possess all the skills of an architect or a structural engineer. However, that doesn’t mean that, with my strong interest and the experience I have gained so far, I cannot be of service. On the contrary! I can guide you through the most enjoyable part of the process. It starts with an orientation conversation and an inventory of the existing situation. After that, we conduct preliminary research on the location, your preferences, and other factors. I assist you in creating various sketches and variations for your project. Eventually, we refine this into a preliminary design.
From this point onward, we need a qualified architect or structural engineer. Depending on the type of project, several follow-up phases will be completed. Through my connections in the industry, I can guide you well during this process and try to keep the lines with external parties as short as possible.

Let's brainstorm
#stolkdesign
During a brainstorming session, we swiftly and creatively generate new ideas for your challenge. I collaborate, sketch, and outline the subsequent process for you. Brainstorming is one of the most effective ways to uncover the core of the issue and gather ideas. In a 3-hour brainstorming session, we can transform your desire into concrete ideas.
